WE HAVE BEEN HAVING FUN in the sun. We have no idea how all these western riders have found out about our little Western Series,  but they have. It must be friends telling friends. The series begins with a playday in April with four buckle-qualifying shows in May, June, July and August. The September  show is the final western playday for the 2008 season. When the show is completed on Sunday September 28th then we will put our horses up at their trailers and retire to the Clubhouse to present trophies and buckles. It is always a joyful event to recognize our riders for their accomplishments throughout the Western Series.

WE WANT AGAIN TO THANK EVERYONE who helps with the Western Series. It takes many helping hands to make the shows happen— from the people in the registration booth, judges, gate people, flaggers and timers. The setup and cleanup crews, and the never-to-be-forgotten support people who get all these riders and their horses to the shows. I am always amazed how horse people come together to help a fellow horsemen.  I think it is the caring feelings our riders have for each other that makes the Carmel Valley Western Series different than any other events. Each year we make new friends, and watch the level and enjoyment of good horsemanship improve.

THE INTERMEDIATE YOUTH AND ADULT DIVISIONS have had over 15 riders in each division, so we have been making two classes for these divisions. Believe it or not, we are still getting the show completed, cleaned up and put away by 6 PM. I want to thank the Carmel High School Athletic Booster for managing the food booth again this year. They do a great job, and their food is delicious with prices a family can afford. Thank you to everyone who helps to make the Western Series a success. So, put our show dates on your calendars and come on down to enjoy the fun!
